Because I share something

33756 452074694067 366446349067 5212046 7965813 n Because I share something…does not mean that I give it my total endorsement, especially when I share via social media. Perhaps I wanted to start a conversation. Maybe I found something interesting and thought maybe you would too. Perhaps I am exploring a concept to figure out where I stand on the idea, issue or opinion. There could me many reasons why you find a post or comment on my blog, wall or news feed.

Sharing something on social media implies we are part of a conversation and I thought I would bring this up. It doesn’t mean that my opinion of it is totally formed, and can or cannot change.

I encourage you to use the tool to share and explore. You’ll find when you write your own posts or share content via Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, you will form some conclusions – and through the conversation they may change. They may even become more set in your ways.

Think about this from the point of the listener. Unless you clarify your point, they may draw the conclusion that you are endorsing something. Sometimes a disclaimer may be warranted – and sometimes you might just want to throw it out there to see what happens. You do want to be aware that the newer the listener is to social media they may not see things the way that you intended. That’s the interesting part of the saying I’ve heard time and time again, “it’s not what you say, it’s what they hear.” It is true and you need to keep that in mind when it comes to the message that you share.

SM 100 – Social Media Coaching Program

Online Coaching with the InSights Group

We have an awesome self study training program for social media. The businesses and individuals we have enrolled are absolutely raving about it.

What we have done is broken down social media training into weekly lessons that are emailed to you. Each lesson has a welcome, the lesson which comes in audio, video, sometimes written, and with tutorial type examples. Then there are action items for you to complete and accountability items. This system is proving very effective to help people get their efforts focused. We (InSights Group) use social media all day every day. It’s a bit overwhelming at times for people who have full time day jobs- or full time businesses to figure out how to maximize time and results. This system helps to simplify the process.

You can expect to spend about an hour a week on the lesson and to do items – this is focused time vs. trying to find out what you need to know – learn it, and then take action. We’ve made it simple.

It’s a great place to start building a foundation for the rest of your marketing efforts. Let us know if you’d like to get started right away!

Your Part

goal setting activities SM 100 Social Media Coaching ProgramThis is the important part. Online coaching is a two-way street. Just as we provide the training plan, we expect you to provide the feedback that will allow us to help you best. Throughout the program, we expect (and rely upon) consistent feedback.

Let us know the results of each training session, action items that you have completed, and questions you may have. This allows us to make any necessary adjustments to the trainings we provide, based on what you need. Each dental practice we work with is unique, and you are able to handle each of the stages of social media at your own pace. Our program is modified continually based on your feedback and with the results of each training so it is your responsibility to keep us updated on how the training is going.

Unlike other coaching programs, we don’t limit the number of phone calls or e-mails from our clients. We wholeheartedly welcome and encourage your feedback as often as necessary, especially in the early part of the training schedule. Ask all your questions. Let us know how things are going – both for you and your team. We rely on your feedback to keep your program on the fast track to success.

How soon will I see my post on the social media sites with automation?

Keep in mind with the automation, there is usually a time delay between when the post is made and when it shows up on the various sites. They usually sweep (and you can control this in settings of each control panel) in 1-2 hour increments, so if you post one minute after the sweep, it will be an hour or so before the post automates through. On the other end, if you post at minute 59 of a 1 hour cycle, it will post within the next few minutes.

Does this blogging thing really work?

how many tags on a blog post search results 1024x640 Does this blogging thing really work? You tell me.

I wrote a post about how many tags a blog post should have in response to a client question. The post went, up, and within 15 mintues, when a colleague googled the same question, who’s result was 4th on the list?

Pretty fast results – and what I can assume is the benefit of several years of blogging, remaining keyword rich, consistent, and putting out good and sometimes great content.

What do you think?

Pick your pic!

You just got new photos professionally taken, yay! You want everyone to see them, and know who you are. But now, how can you make them your Facebook profile picture? If you’ve made a picture your profile picture before you may not need this, that is, if you made your picture a profile and remember how to do it. If you didn’t do your profile picture yourself  (you suckered your 13 year old daughter to do it) or if you don’t remember, here’s a little refresher course.

Step 1. Make sure the picture you want to make your profile is clearly labeled, and in a place on your computer that you can follow the trail ( from folder to folder) to access it easily.

Step 2. Log onto your Facebook, and where your profile picture is on your profile page, click the upper right hand corner of the picture. It should say “Change Picture”. A drop list will appear to you with options:SafariScreenSnapz001 Pick your pic!

“Remove your Picture” takes away your current picture and replaces it with            Facebook’s sillouette

“Edit thumbnail” allows you to focus in on what you want shown in the picture when you comment or post something to someone’s wall, the mini thumbnail of your larger picture.

“Choose From Album” will open up your facebook albums for you to choose from.

“Take a Picture” will open up your webcam to take a picture right then.

And what you want, “Upload a Picture”. Click it. SafariScreenSnapz0022 150x150 Pick your pic!

Step 3.  A window will appear, click “choose file”, and follow your picture trail until it leads to your picture. Say okay, and allow it to upload!

Hope to SEE you soon!

The InSights Group works with entrepreneurs, small businesses and dental practices on successful social media marketing strategies.

When someone subscribes to my blog should it have pretty formatting like my website?

A little bit – not too much. Here’s why:

The strategy for the formatting vs. not on the daily blog subscription is that when it looks too “formatted” then people assume it is a sales message (through their internal filter) since we scan through our email in box so quickly. When it comes across as text, we are more likely to perceive it as an actual message. Subscribe to Seth Godin’s feed and see how it comes through. It’s more about the content than making it look a certain way. Ultimately, this is up to you. I am a proponent of simple.

If you use the service and would like to make a few of those changes, Feedburner does allow for a bit of html customization with the addition of a header, and choose a background and text color.

In this case less is more, and if you content is good it’s more about the message than the formatting.
