Is a social media strategy time consuming and overwhelming?

Social media can be overwhelming. There are thousands of social media sites that you can get involved with, but there are just a few that you really need to become very familiar with early on. We teach, at the Insights Group, to lean into the process. Pick one that makes sense for you. Learn about it. Become actively involved in it. And then from there, build profiles on several other sites. But start small; you don’t have to change the world today, but you will impact your world by becoming involved and doing the proper things which do require that strategy.

Thanks Rebecca, Twitter is a great place to start. Al will completely agree with you. I also recommend Facebook, it’s a very common social media starting site for so many people. – Sandi

For my business I am on twitter, facebook, blogger and youtube. The reason is because of the types of clients I have – brides. I do however, like facebook as a way to be more interactive. Brides can see photos, you can upload videos, etc etc. Youtube is great, because I can upload videos of me DJing – which brides love to see you and action and sometimes won’t book until they see you. The blog site, I just use to summarize events and of course twitter… well sometimes I post status updates. Haven’t really found a true value in twitter.

HI DJ Kristin, thanks for the reply. We are thrilled to hear that you are on the social media sites. Hang in there with Twitter. Sometimes it seems like there’s not much on Twitter that will work-but if you talk to Al he’ll explain to you why it’s his favorite…first rule of social media is watch and listen. Sounds like you are starting there, so you’ll glean more of how it can help you soon. If we can help, just let us know! – Sandi
