We had a day full of networking opportunities and meetings at InSights today, and in Ann Arbor as we attended the ACE ’09 Entrepreneur event, then travelled back to Brighton to wrap up the day with a Toastmasters meeting. I overheard a conversation from a woman who was wondering when she would have time to get any work done. Interesting question, considering I have the same dilemma. So, here we are late at night and I am writing a blog post, twittering, and updating my facebook account. Where does the balance come in to the in person social activites that are so important for growing our contact spheres? Does anyone have any advice on their strategy and how to keep it all simple?

One of the best parts of social networking is that it is so engaging (at least for me), so it is easy to get distracted by it. For me, I try to set aside specific parts of the day for specific work tasks. For example, writing my blog posts for the next morning in the evening, checking email and social networks in the morning with breakfest, following leads and marketing in the morning, afternoon for client work, etc. I still have TweetDeck going in the background throughout the day to keep up with conversations on Twitter. How does everyone else manage their day? (btw, I still feel like I need more time in the day)

My time is spent writing posts in the evening and catching up on the day. It seems that I can’t get more than 3 uninterrupted minutes at the computer during the day between meetings and office interruptions. That must mean that the social networking and in person networking are working!
