Working amidst networking opportunities. How do you find the balance?

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

We had a day full of networking opportunities and meetings at InSights today, and in Ann Arbor as we attended the ACE ‘09 Entrepreneur event, then travelled back to Brighton to wrap up the day with a Toastmasters meeting. I overheard a conversation from a woman who was wondering when she would have time to get any work done. Interesting question, considering I have the same dilemma. So, here we are late at night and I am writing a blog post, twittering, and updating my facebook account. Where does the balance come in to the in person social activites that are so important for growing our contact spheres? Does anyone have any advice on their strategy and how to keep it all simple?

What is motivation?

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

1-8-09-insights-anniversary-celebration-043For those of you who were in the meeting this morning, Thank You!! Motivation often appears to be an outside thing. It seems to come from external sources, but it doesn’t. Outside sources may influence our attitudes and perspectives on life but the motivation must come from inside. It is an inside job!
Motivation is truly multi dimensional. We must remember to include our mind, body, and our spirit in our endeavers to be motivated. If we integrate all three with a balanced approach, we will be able to maintain tremendous results. If we focus on only 2 of the 3 the system eventually falls apart.
1) Mind- put it in its place. We often lead with our mind, and it ends up getting in the way. We are MENTAL!!!!!!
2)Body – Love what is!! You are perfection in any moment. Treat your body with respect and honor it right where it is at! It is the only one you will ever have so you better start loving it as it is. Once you love it as it is, You can start making changes to it as needed, but not before(not lasting changes anyway).
3)Spirit – This is your essence!!! Your passion!!! Your flame!!! Seek out the thing that makes you happy, no matter what it is. Remember the question, “what would you do if no one  got paid anymore for their work?”. Would you stay right where you are at? We (Insights Group) have some great exercises and tools to help you tune into these things. We don’t really advertise them as a service we provide but they are awesome things. Find your Passion and live into it!!!!!!

The three prong approach to motivation is a home run!!

Who talked to the mirror this afternoon? Did you feel silly? Did you laugh?  Your face is the only one you’ll ever have so LOVE it!!!! PRACTICE Loving it!!! I look forward to each of you returning next tuesday and while you are at it, bring a guest!!!!
