InSights Group

We are doing company launches, brand management, running companies, and in general trying to keep up with you in changing the world!

Google+, what?

Think multiple person skype chats, stumbleupon, facebook and youtube – in one. Hangout virtually with friends or collegues, (or hold a conference with people out of town), search and read things that you or your company are interested in, connect with people and share your videos and photos effortlessly. Although Google+ isn’t open to the public yet, it seems like it might be something to watch out for. If you like social media and believe it’s here to stay, keep your eyes open and your google search bar open!

Get Google Earth. Put the world in perspective.

Have you tried the new Google Earth?

This is a 3D model of the real world, based on real satellite images combined with maps, guides to restaurants, hotels, entertainment, businesses and more. You can zoom from space to street level instantly and then pan or jump from place to place, city to city, even country to country. Get Google Earth. This is just too much fun!

Google introduces +1

Google Socializes Search Results With +1:  ”Plus one” is digital shorthand for “this is pretty cool” and it’s Google’s version of the Facebook Like button.  “To recommend something, all you have to do is click +1 on a webpage or ad you find useful. These +1’s will then start appearing in Google’s search results.”  To try out this new feature, you need to have a Google profile and visit the Google Labs site to opt in to the +1 program.

It’s all still about content…

Google changed their search algorithm a couple of weeks ago. The changes brought traffic changes to many sites, including some big names. Google’s algorithm always remains a secret. As soon as the changes are made, people who rely on Google spend time trying to find a way to make sure their site continues to rank. Its all still about content...

Content is still super important. Your blog posts, updated content and your social media accounts will.

Carol from Brandeur (http://www.brandeur.com) shares:

Spammers, scammers and site scrapers around the US are freaking out about their traffic drops, while legitimate businesses with something real, unique and useful to say are in the sweet spot. It’s never been more important than it is right now to blog consistently, and engage via social media.

So it really is all about content. How does your content creation measure up? Do you wish you had more? We can help. InSights develops social media strategies, can help you create your content, and get your website noticed by the search engines. Let us know if we can help.

Why should you even have a blog?

There are tons of reasons to have a blog.  Here are a few.

It Gives Users a Reason to Come Back

If your website content never changes, visitors will read what they want to once and leave and probably never be back.  But if you’re writing  new content all the time, they have a reason to come back. And if your content is interesting, they may even become loyal readers (and fans).

It Gives You a Reason to Create New Content

Once you’ve established a blogging habit, you’ll want to keep doing it (the definition of a habit, after all).  If you don’t have a blog, adding new content is difficult and may involve redesigning your site.  Blogs are simple; they manage themselves.  All you have to do is to keep pouring content into them.

Blogging Helps You Think and Improves Your Creativity

By disciplining yourself to blog frequently, you are making yourself create new ideas, think new thoughts, and explain things in new ways.  Blogging will keep you out of mental ruts.  New ideas will emerge, and you may even find yourself changing or redefining your business model.

Google Loves Activity

Did you know that Google gets bored easily, and if it finds nothing new when it checks your site, it probably will stop checking?  But did you know that Google sees each new blog post as a separate page, and more pages and more content equals more attention from search engines?  Want to get found?  Write more stuff, and do it often!

Google's Search Page

I like to head over to Google.com every once in a while to see what they are up to. They have a very clean landing page that serves as their search page online. When something fun is happening in the world, they often do subtle things to change the page the world views for the day. It’s a short little “quirk” to our day. It’s even more interesting when you have no idea what might be going on…

So, Today’s the Day: Happy 50th Anniversary Barney Rubble, Fred Flintstone, and the whole gang. Thanks for being a part of my childhood via Google.
