Could you adjust your Facebook thumbnail? I can’t see your face.

2 300x231 Could you adjust your Facebook thumbnail? I cant see your face.

Take a look at this picture.  Which thumbnail gives the best representation of the person it depicts? The oddest? Which thumbnail looks most like yours? When we first upload a profile picture we deem appropriate onto facebook, we plop it up there and call it good. When someone’s on our profile they can see us right? But what we fail to consider is that when we partake in activity outside our profile we show up as a thumbnail, and not always as a centered one. (Take a moment to note the man in the upper left corner versus the man at the bottom middle).

To change your thumbnail then, go to your profile, and at your picture in the upper left hand corner, click “Change-picture”. (It is not visible all the time but will reveal itself when scrolled over). Under your image that comes up, click “Edit thumbnail”. In the pop-up window, use your mouse to drag your picture to fit within the premeasured boundaries. When you are satisfied that what is showing is what you want to show so that people can recognize you, click ‘save’. Voila.

Pick your pic!

You just got new photos professionally taken, yay! You want everyone to see them, and know who you are. But now, how can you make them your Facebook profile picture? If you’ve made a picture your profile picture before you may not need this, that is, if you made your picture a profile and remember how to do it. If you didn’t do your profile picture yourself  (you suckered your 13 year old daughter to do it) or if you don’t remember, here’s a little refresher course.

Step 1. Make sure the picture you want to make your profile is clearly labeled, and in a place on your computer that you can follow the trail ( from folder to folder) to access it easily.

Step 2. Log onto your Facebook, and where your profile picture is on your profile page, click the upper right hand corner of the picture. It should say “Change Picture”. A drop list will appear to you with options:SafariScreenSnapz001 Pick your pic!

“Remove your Picture” takes away your current picture and replaces it with            Facebook’s sillouette

“Edit thumbnail” allows you to focus in on what you want shown in the picture when you comment or post something to someone’s wall, the mini thumbnail of your larger picture.

“Choose From Album” will open up your facebook albums for you to choose from.

“Take a Picture” will open up your webcam to take a picture right then.

And what you want, “Upload a Picture”. Click it. SafariScreenSnapz0022 150x150 Pick your pic!

Step 3.  A window will appear, click “choose file”, and follow your picture trail until it leads to your picture. Say okay, and allow it to upload!

Hope to SEE you soon!

Facebook Tip #1

Use a good profile picture. Do not use one of your kids, your dog, you in a group, or a sunset. If you are using Facebook for business, you need to make it easy for people to recognize you. The purpose is creating relationships with people, and we don’t form relationships with stuff, we form them with people. So many people I have seen use a half of their face, or something meant to be cutesy. Do you want cutesy or do you want something that will benefit you long term?

Taking artistic license to what Tom Harris (xn Marketing) has previously said, “Heaven forbid that someone should find you (and recognize you) on Facebook, because they might be reminded why they needed to call or email and do business with you, and what a hassle that would be.”

How is your profile picture representing you?
